OWNER & FOUNDER, Ukulele Inspired
Hi there, I’m John Nash owner and instructor here at Ukulele Inspired and ukulele is my thing. I was born in the Philippines, raised in Alaska, and have lived in Seattle, Brazil, Hawaii and the Bay Area. It’s been quite the journey and now I’m here raising a family in the foothills outside of Denver, CO. I’ve been playing and teaching music for most of my life and in 2008 I found the ukulele while living on Oahu. I immediately fell in love with its sweet sound, its capability, its portability, and most of all its innate ability to bring people together. Ever since then I’ve been focused on improving my skills as a player and teacher. Inspired by the consistent encouragement of my wife Hillary (my first student!), I founded Ukulele Inspired in 2013 and transitioned into teaching ukulele full time. My teaching philosophy is rooted in a strong belief that everyone is capable of learning music given the right amount of challenge, encouragement and inspiration!

Our Teaching Philosophy
Here at Ukulele Inspired, we believe that the ukulele is a powerful instrument for connecting people with music. It has a gentle entry point for beginners, allowing them to quickly create music. At the same time the ukulele is a surprisingly capable instrument that can allow intermediate and advanced students to progress and develop far beyond their expectations. We strive to meet students where they are at and utilize a differentiated approach to our teaching. That means our content and arrangements are presented in varying levels of difficulty to help you progress no matter what your level or experience. We also believe that learning music is a lifelong journey that doesn’t have an end, we should continue to learn and grow no matter what are experience.
